Student Services

Dialogue Process

Along with research, studies and instruction constitute the core of the university. It is thus one of the highest goals for the development of our university to provide the best possible conditions for students and teachers.

We have been experiencing major changes in the area of studies for some time. The most serious changes have been the transition to bachelor and master degrees, the introduction of numerous new degree programs, and the introduction of tuition. These developments present new and complex challenges in the area of student administration for the faculties as well as the central university administration. The University of Freiburg has confronted these challenges by conducting an extensive analysis of the administrative business processes the Student Affairs Office (ZSA), the examination offices, and the academic departments are responsible for supervising in the course of the Student Lifecycle (PDF [de]). The goal of this business process analysis was to adjust and improve existing student services and the service departments responsible for providing them in order to account for recent changes in educational policy and in societal conditions.
